Storer College, Harper's Ferry, West Virginia Founded in 1867, this institution is over 75 years old, and is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in the United States. It was named for John Storer, of Sanford, Maine. It is a college of Liberal Arts, offering additional courses in Home Economics and Music. Storer College is well located on one of the beautiful rolling hills surrounding the scenic and historic junction of the three states and two rivers. Storer College was the first West Virginia college open to African Americans.
