1950 Industrial Survey for Charles Town - Ranson Jefferson County, W. VAEntry/Object ID
LIB618Description
The adjoining towns of Charles Town and Ranson are located in Jefferson County and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
A network of excellent highways connect these communities with national highways which are direct routes southeast to Baltimore - 74 miles, south to Washington, D. C. - 58 miles, 52 miles to route US30 directly north and 22 miles west to Winchester route US50.
The climatic conditions are good with average temperatures that are favorable for comfortable living. There are no long periods of heat or cold. The countryside throughout is considered one of the most pleasant areas for family life.
The region should be suitable to any individual requiring good labor, good working conditions and favorable surroundings for home development which would not be restricted by a normal amount of transportation cost in the assembling of raw materials or finished products.
Also the region is sufficiently removed from the older main line for industrial developments to offer virgin locations in which to start a new modern industry. The following data will point out the industrial possibilities of the community of Charles Town - Ranson.
