Flagg House (323 E. Washington Street). Samuel Washington, nephew to George and son of Charles, built this Federal house in 1798. It was here in 1896 that John Flagg, postmaster of Charles Town, resided when he implemented the first rural free delivery in the U.S. The house has had many owners, among them the Samuel Walter Washington family from 1911 to 1973.
