According to donor, the man shown front, right is Robert Milton "Mit" Moore (1857-1941), the donor's grandfather. According to Doug Perks, museum historian, the photo is likely from the 1910s; the building was constructed after 1906. According to the Spirit of Jefferson Farmer's Advocate, May 7, 1992, the person in the middle is Samuel Lee Phillips.
Front reads: "Your savings secured. Farmers & Merchants Deposit Co. Charles Town, W. Va."
