Silver colored, cross shaped medal. Part may be missing as it has a small ring attached at top. Top arm of cross says "1914". Left arm says "Aug. 31". Right arm says "SEP. 5". Bottom arm says "MICH.". In circle in center is "48TH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT DETROIT".
In center is official star medal with "G A R" between the points at top.
