Description

Hoe with long wooden modern handle and hand-forged square metal blade with a small notch in corner. A recently handwritten note attached to the hoe reads: SLAVE HOE WITH ROOT CUTTING NOTCH 1850s. (There is no reliable information confirming the suggestion in the note that this was a hoe used by enslaved people nor that the hoe dates to the 1850s. Note attached in Media). The head is not secured to the handle. Be careful when handling.
