John Brown's Fort. Originally the U. S. Armory fire engine and guard house. In 1891 moved to the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago and in 1895 returned to Harpers Ferry and rebuilt on the farm of Alexander Murphy. This photograph shows the Fort after it was relocated to the campus of Storer College in 1909 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of John Brown's Raid. In 1968 the Fort was removed to its current location in Arsenal Square in the Lower Town.
