Letter on light blue paper folded with embossed oval mark in upper right corner with "PARIS". Letter is from Richmond, VA dated January 30th, 1860 addressed "To the Ladies of Charlestown" thanking them for housing troops in their homes. Signed by J. Lucius Davis, who had been in charge of troops during John Brown trial.
