Multi-drawered,rectangular papier mache sewing cabinet. Lid is hinged to reveal a segmented, blue-lined drawer which further covers white-lined cubbyholes underneath. Two side doors open to show 4 drawers with mother of pearl pulls. The fifth and bottom drawer is actually a lap desk that pulls out. Cabinet is black with painted decorations, largely gold or multi-colored flowers. The back is painted with a gold lilac spray, flanked by 2 mirror-imaged twining flowering vines. The lid is inlayed with mother of pearl. It is lined inside with blue silk which has been gathered and bordered with white and gold braid draped in loops. Key is located in the top drawer and numbered 185a. Contained inside are items number 192 - beaded pin cushion, 187 - scissors, 193a, 193b, 193c, and 193d - thread spools, 194 - large bees wax, 189 - small bees wax and 190 - tape measureAcquisition
