ARTIST'S STUDIO
c. 1930, Oil on canvas, 20 x 25 inches
Jonathan Club collection
Shortly after arriving in Los Angeles in 1920, Paul Lauritz built a home and studio at 3955 Clayton Avenue, near the intersection of Hollywood and Vermont, where he lived until his death. This painting demonstrates Lautiz’s shift from soft, gauzy compositions toward a bold, flat, Post-Impressionist style.
