Ogden, UtahContext
Cabin now located at Fort Buenaventura near Ogden. It is supposed that the Green and Phillips men were first intending to see the site where trappers had located when scouting out a settlement location. Instead, deep snow turned them back at the sand ridge in what is now Hill Air Force Base. They stayed the night on Kay's Creek and returned in the spring of 1850 with their families.
Miles Goodyear had been settled in Ogden for a number of years before Mormon pioneers entered the Great Basin. A trapper, Goodyear connects Kaysville with the trappers who had explored and lived in huts in the area before pioneers.Collection
