Context

Dedication of flagpole and World War I memorial on Memorial Day, May 30, 1931. The flag[pole and memorial bench were built by the Kaysville and Layton American Legion Posts #82 and #87. The memorial was built to honor the five soldiers who died in WWI: William Layton, Hubert Layton, David Day, David Jones, and Elmer Criddle. The Fort Douglas honor guard and the Lester Gleason Band are seen in the picture. In 1931, the cemetery was known as the Kaysville/Layton Memorial Park. Today it is the Kaysville City Cemetery.
