Richard "Dick" Gailey and friends traveled to Kirtland and the photograph is attributed to him. Most early pioneers to Kaysville were converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many had lived in Kirtland, Ohio, and Nauvoo, Illinois, before trekking across the plains to the Salt Lake Valley.
