Context

John Green and Edward Phillips may have been scouting out the Ogden and Weber River area when they decided to return and build along Kay's Creek. Miles Goodyear had been settled in Ogden for a number of years before Mormon pioneers entered the Great Basin. A trapper, Goodyear connects Kaysville with the trappers who had explored and lived in huts in the area before pioneers.
