Context

This picture was taken in 1944 on the 75th anniversary of the Union Pacific Railroad entering the Salt Lake Valley. The steam train seen in this picture was a replica of the 1869 engine and passenger cars. This train traveled across the United States as a promotional advertisement for railroad travel and to celebrated the U. P. Railroad's Diamond Jubilee. The man in front of the engine (view of his back) is Frank Williams and the little girl at the left looking at the photographer is Carol Parker. Both townspeople and grade school kids were at the Kaysville depot when this train moved through Davis County from Ogden to Salt Lake City. It stopped in Kaysville for a half an hour.
