Gradually they built the steps up from the dark basement and built onto the middle floor. As they started to build the steps to the attic I left to go to Waverton train station. To get the job I would have to buy a shop or rent one, buy some adult dogs, a boy and a girl and put them together so they make puppies. I would like to create a new breed. Nian. Nian is a ferocious beast and he emerges on Lunar New Year to eat the townsfolk. One day an old man went up to a youth and asked him why he was so sad and frightened. The youth answered that it was Lunar New Year and that Nian would come and eat them. "Haven't you tried negotiating with him?" asked the old man. 106 "Do you not know that Nian is fire breathing and you cannot go near him!" the young man explained. "Well I shall go and see what I can do" and the old man walked over to the land where Nian slept. When he found him the old man told Nian that he should change his ways and be good. Nian just snorted at him and threatened to eat him! The old man stood his ground and suggested that he eat the venomous snakes first. Nian agreed and ate them up. Then he went on to eat other beasts in the mountains but still he wanted to eat the old man. Reluctantly, the old man agreed to be eaten and went to step out of his clothes. When he came back he was wearing a red undergarment. Nian was terrified of the colour red and he immediately backed away from the old man. Nian was so petrified that the old man managed to capture him and he no longer ate people at Lunar New Year. To this day people paste red papers on their doors so that Nian will not hurt their family. Dragon Dance There was a puff of smoke and a crash of cymbals then a multicoloured face of a dragon peered out of the wreaths of smoke and stopped. The dance began with the dragon springing to life, jumping and prancing. The colours have mixed and swirled together and it's all disappearing, maybe forever. Am I happy or sad? I will miss the dragon's happy dance but wait! The cymbals are crashing and the drums are banging, here comes the dragon. The colours unmix and unswirl , dancing and prancing all over again. Jumping, weaving, twisting and turning, weaving it's way through the crowds in the streets. The teasers are teasing with all their fun, the dragon is mad and the teasers are frightened but they keep on laughing. Recently there has been an exciting festival in Hong Kong called the mooncake festival. The Chinese name for it is Zhong Qui Jie. Lanterns were glowing and being carried by children. My general might declare war on me with his enormous army. Three months later I had an enormous army but while I was thinking how clever I had been the general was talking to some of my soldiers persuading them to attack me.
