I will wear an apron and work in my auntie's kitchen. I will cook for my mummy and daddy and my whole family. They will like my cooking because there will be spaghetti and they like spaghetti. When I grow up I want to be an ice skater because I love ice skating and it's really fun. I really like wearing my ice skating shoes and special gloves. My gloves help to keep my hands warm if I fall over. When I grow up I want to be a fire man because I will get a ladder to climb up the house and spray the fire with water from my hose. I will wear a fireman red suit and I will drive in a fire truck. When I grow up I want to be a fireman because I can spray the water out onto the fire. I will drive the fire truck with all the other firemen in it. When I grow up I want to be a ballerina because I used to do ballet and I liked it a lot. I can still remember how to do it. I like my long sleeve top and my pink ballet dress with a pink bow. When I grow up I want to be an ice skater. I like going very very fast and I want to be able to skate on one leg. I will wear a pretty ice skating costume that will be purple. When I grow up I want to be a fireman because I want to save people from a fire. I want to look nice in my fire man uniform and go really fast in a fire engine making a loud noise. When I grow up I want to be an archaeologist because I want to dig in muddy bogs to find dinosaur bones. I will explore and have lots of adventures. I'm going to have a compass and a spade, a cushion and a blanket and a tent to sleep in. When I grow up I want to be a ballerina because I like ballerinas and the way that they dance. Ballerinas are pretty and wear pink. I will be able to dance every day. When I grow up I want to be a fire chief because I want to put fires out with a hose. I'm going to be in the same fire engine as Jonny. It will be red with a hose and a ladder and I will drive it. When I grow up I want to be a fireman because I want to spray out fires. I will be a brave fireman and wear my mask so fire doesn't go on my face and then I can rescue people. When I grow up I want to be an ice skater. I want to have a sparkly purple dress and sparkly ice skating shoes. I will be able to skate without falling down, ice is very cold when you fall over. I will be able to turn around on the ice. When I grow up I want to be an astronaut because I want to fly into space. I want to go to Pluto because it's a bit hot in Hong Kong and Pluto is colder. I will wear an astronaut suit when I fly in my rock_et. When I grow up I want to be a jet plane pilot because I can fly high. I will share my plane with Edward, Ben, Jonny, Finton and Wilson. When I grow up, I want to be a ballerina. When I do my ballet on the stage, I will do a curtsy after finishing. Everyone will throw flowers at me and someone on stage will give me red roses. I will put on lipstick and have pretty rosy cheeks and beautiful ribbons in my hair. When I grow up, I want to be a TV star because I want to be on TV I am going to be a TV presenter and will tell everyone about the weather. I will be pointing at all the places where the rain is going to fa ll. If there is cloudy weather in Phuket, sun in Austra lia and rain in New Zealand, I can say it on TV I will be wearing a suit and my voice will be loud and clear when I speak. My train's name is James, it has lots of coaches full of laughing children. When I am driving the train, I will be wearing a train driver's suit. When I grow up, I want to be a rock: star because they are really cool. I'll be playing my guitar and then play on the drums. The lights will fl ash at me and all the people will come to see me. Even my sister wi ll be watching me. The stage will look: lik:e an England flag and I will be in the middle of it. When I grow up, I want to be a rock: star because I want to be really famous. On stage, I will be singing "I'm a rock: star yeah I" wearing a purple pair of shoes, pink: pants and a blue shirt and lots of mak:e-up. Yellow, orange and red spot lights will be shining on me as I sing and dance to the groove. When I grow up, I want to be a pilot because I want to fly aeroplanes On my plane I will tak:e a lot of people to England and then get some more people and fly them to America. I will go to the station to get some more people to come in my aeroplane When I am flying I will wear a pilot's hat and a blue jack:et. When she was back in Sparta (because she had been kidnapped), men from all around Sparta wanted to marry her! She chose a man called Menelaus. A few days later, Paris (Prince of Troy) took Helen away to Troy. When Menelaus knew, he called the whole army to Sparta of bring her back (1,000 ships were sent). When they arrived at Troy, the whole Trojan army was waiting for them. Troy was guarded by a brick wall and Helen was inside. They set up camp and started the ten year war. Helen helped both sides. TEN YEARS LATER One of the Spartan soldiers had a sneaky idea. When night fell, he told the rest of the army. By Erik Mclean My Hero Perseus is my hero because he is coura geous and fearless. The Oracle King Acrisis of Argos was warned by an oracle that he would be killed by his own grandson. Hearing this, he locked his only daughter, Danae, in an under ground room made of bronze. But God Zeus changed into a shower of gold and made Danae pregnant with Perseus. When the king found out about the birth he got very angry and locked Danae and Perseus in a chest and cast it into the sea. The chest landed on a beautiful beach of Seriphus, where they were found by a fisherman, whose brother was a king, and was looked after by him. The head of Medusa The King of Seriphus, Polydectus, fell in love with Danae but Perseus was very protective of her. Polydectus demanded him to fetch the head of Medusa. The gods and goddesses took pity on Perseus and decided to help him. Hermes and Athena provided Perseus with winged sandles to fly to Medusa's home, a helmet of invisibility so he could get away, a sickle to cut off her head, a bag to put it in and a bronze shield. When Perseus flew to the Gorgons cave, he sneeked up on Medusa when she was sleeping. He could not look directly at her for then he would turn into stone. Instead Perseus used his shield to look at Medusa and cut off her head. Did you know? Perseus is also named after a constella tion of stars. He appears as a man holding a round object away from him. Hulbert extracts from OU~ Stories_/ I knew that soon the moment would come. I soon realized that the other team weren't as good as I thought they would have been. We were winning, 4 to 3, but just when I thought that we were going to win, they scored. As soon as the centre had been taken, I tried to power boot the ball into the goal. To no-one's surprise, the goalie caught it and booted it up field. I then realized that if we wanted to win, we had to work as a team. After three more minutes of hard work, I finally managed to score the game's winning goal. I went home feeling prouder than I had ever felt . As soon as I stepped through the door, my mum wrapped her arms around me and congratulated me. I felt better than I had all week after that incident. James Throsby P6-17 I was so nervous, so petrified. I had a drama exam at 11.00am on the 17th February 2006. My ears were ringing and my brain was buzzing with all the horrific words I had to remember. I was exhausted, even though I had only got out of bed and put on my silk dressing gown. "Miss Ellen Samon," a voice echoed from the studio. "Good luck," Lizzie whispered. I opened the door and stepped in. I felt like all my nerves had suddenly stopped. The small room gave me the feeling it was staring at me. Miranda Robson P6-17 I'm itchy all over I can't keep track of all the mosquito bites I received in the last twenty minutes. This place is full of bugs! Jem went in to the jungle to see what was causing the commotion. A minute later, I heard a large scream and a loud howl. Then it all stopped as quickly as it started. I went in after him only to find him lying dead on the ground with his heart ripped out, blood on the floor and his mouth open in an everlasting scream. I was scared; very scared. I ran as fast as I could back to the camp, jumped into the tent and stayed in it all night, quivering. Evan Reilly P6-17 "OOPS!" I cried. My mum looked at me in despair. Coffee was all over her cream carpet. Mum made me run around the house (that was what I had to do when I was naughty.) I was so nervous about the huge swimming race. My heart was beating tremendously fast. My race is in five minutes! I was so nervous! My heart was pounding and my legs felt like jelly. I swallowed hard. I knew that soon the moment would come. "Of course I will win!" boasted Samantha. "You know I'm the best swimmer." I laughed under my breath she didn't know how to swim. I was up. I looked at the finishing line and forced myself to cram. "Beep!" I leapt into the water, fighting the waves, leaving the other swimmers behind me. Eleanor Bound P6-17 "Jim, there's an exam in 2 weeks and it is a very important exam!" declared Amy. "Yeah, we will need to study hard!" I agreed. "Oh , it's those wimps again!" laughed Billy the bully, who appeared from nowhere. "Yeah - wimps!" agreed Benny, who was a member of Billy's gang. "Ow!" shouted Amy, as Billy twisted her ear. We studied hard for two weeks. Two weeks later, during the exam, suddenly Billy threw a paper ball at me. "Ha!" he laughed. Three weeks after the exam we got the results. "Every one of Billy's gang got Fin every single test there was" I laughed Alex Cooke P6-17 I knew the time would come. I couldn't wait. It was so exciting, just five days to go, no parents, just my friends and I going to France. My heart was thumping in my chest like it was trying to escape from my body. I couldn't bear the waiting. It's time, time to go. I'm on the plane waving rapidly goodbye to my mum and dad. I was so nervous, my heart was pounding, my legs felt like jelly. I swallowed. I knew that soon the moment would come. The sound of the engines roared and the wheels of the plane whizzed faster and faster like a hurricane ripping through houses. We were off. Ben Newton P6-17 "Are you Holly?" she asked rudely, "cos if you are, well. .. I hope you aren't." I hated her even before she spoke. How rude! "Yes, I'm Holly." I replied, trying not to sound upset. I decided I wouldn't give her the present. Jessica didn't speak in the car; she was obviously in a bad mood. We had set up the guest room for her, but I insisted that she slept in the shed. She groaned. "The shed's nice," I smiled, "As long as you don't mind sleeping with Porky, our pig" I laughed. Revenge is sweet, I thought. Alice Irwin P6-17 An hour later we got to school and stepped off the bus and stepped into a huge square, full of cold stone and brick that had been painted black. There it was at the other side of the square, towering over us like a ... ......... . "Everyone in!" exclaimed the head master. I went by the notice board fighting against the flow of kids. I was so nervous! My heart was pounding and my legs felt like jelly. I swallowed hard. I knew tha soon the moment would come and we would find out who was going to become school President and who was to be vice. 'And now folks the moment you have all been waiting for. Drum roll please," declared the head. Grace Miller-Day P6-17 The icy cold drink made my body shiver and sway. I was so nervous! My legs felt like jelly. The moment had come. "Bang!!" went the gun. "And they're off. Alex is off. He is taking first. He has done it," bellowed the commentator, spraying spit everywhere. I was running down the track tremendously fast. As I came closer, my heart was thumping, and was almost out of breath. I was going so fast it seemed like the ground was moving. Everything fell quiet. "He wins it," the commentator said breaking the silence. Hugo Denness P6-17 "On your marks get set GO!" bellowed the judge. We were off. It was time. My body felt numb. I started to scuttle along. Everybody was ahead of me. I broke into a run, rejuvenated by the feeling of wind in my hair. It seemed as if I were being pushed backwards. I started to sprint. I started to sprint uncontrollably, I felt my legs pumping, it was faster then I had ever travelled . In a couple minutes that seemed like hours I reached the finish line. "YES - first, I came first" I laughed. I lay on the floor panting! James Wong P6-17 "Come on Daniel, or we'll be late!" I started and jumped into the Porsche, the engine roared as it slid out of the driveway. "Confident?" my dad asked me. I made a distinct noise in my throat. "Just focus on the running, not your opposition, alright? And remember, Adam'II be out there too, so you're not alone." I gulped. It wasn't the most encouraging thought. I couldn't hear anything but the beat of my heart. Thump-thump. Thump-thump. Thump-thump. Then all of a sudden ... "GO!" Jonathan Cooper P6-17 "Avalanche" cried Adrian, running down the towering hill, panicking and terrified. Panic spread around the village, people running in all directions as the avalanche roared towards them. By the time the people escaped, the houses of the village were all wiped out horribly, leaving nothing but the blanket of perishing snow. "Stranger!" cried a voice that disappeared in the mist. "Where are you? I'm here to help!" "H ... help!" murmured Adrian, trying to get up from the freezing cold snow. "Over here!" J.R. Comes P6-17 "BOOM!" A tank blew up it was like a tiger roaring once it had caught it's pray. I could feel the radiant heat, through the walls of the bomb shelter, as another tank's engine sprang to life. It seemed like hours until the fighting halted. Later, I crept out of the bomb shelter, to see the damage. There were blown up tanks and dead bodies all over the ground. It made my stomach flip. Slowly, I went into the bomb shelter. Lachlan Hanna P6-17 When I arrived at the track, I hopped into the inside lane ready to warm up, but before I knew what I was doing the starter shot his gun without warning. I was off like a rocket in lift off (but with no count down!) I ran faster, my teeth gritted, running my little legs off , but I could see it was no good, he was gaining on me. My heart was pounding faster and faster and my teeth gnashed. I turned my head to have a look around. Then for some reason I had a sudden spurt of energy and I lunged, like a lion pouncing on its prey. Max Copley P6-17 I kept on begging Mom to tell me what it was , but she always said in a mom voice" Hold your horses, you'll see when you get there!" I always replied with a big "Humph!" but then the day came ... At last when we were in a special jet thousands of feet off the ground my mom finally said very enthusiastically " Skydiving!" A man hooked himself on my back, and then the next thing I knew I was flying in mid air! We were falling like sycamore seeds dropping to the ground! The engine roared above us as we were falling 10 feet second by second. I felt like a bird when the man pulled the string for the parachute, as we were floating through crystal clear air. The clouds were like white feathery pillows! I felt like I was in heaven! I looked down under me. I could see patches of land and colossal fields. I could see petite, minute, bug- like cars. Shannon Lane P6-17 "Go .. . run, come on you can do it Anna!" cheered Dad from the tall, dark stands that were looming above me. I was begging to take the lead of the race, but I was so wrapped up on winning I hadn't noticed the hole in the track. I ran faster and faster until... "Anna, wake up!" cried Dad worriedly. Slowly, I opened my eyes. Unbelievably, I was in hospital with a huge bandage attached firmly to my ankle. "Uhhhh!" I moaned, furiously thumping my fists on the soft, springy mattress. Although not everyone would agree that snacks at break time are good , I think it is good . The first reason is that children need energy food. Second reason is that children will go hungry. Children need food for the brain. When children do not concentrate in class, it is because they have not eaten brain food . It is bad to eat too much food because it can make you sick but a medium amount of food is good. Children need nourishment and vitamins they do not need to have too much unhealthy food. The proper snack foods are popcorn, crackers, juice and fruit. Children need food at break time for energy or they will be very hungry. Lawrence Knight It has come to my attention that my mother has taken me to the dentist 20 times. I have written this letter to confirm with you to have healthier snacks. Firstly you can get hyper in class when you have sugar for snacks and then get told off and most important older people think it is cool to litter I believe that litter causes pollution and I have asthma so it is not good for my health . Furthermore I know snacks might give you energy but my mum gets angry when I do not finish my lunch and if you have snacks it will fill you up so I will not eat my lunch. In addition when you leave crumbs on the ground it will make vermin and bugs come. In conclusion you can not you can not concen trate in class if you have a fizzy drink at break therefore I do not think we should have snacks but we could have healthy snacks at break time. Alexandra Davidson Although not everyone would agree, I think there should be snack at break time, because children need some energy, they need to fill their bodies up. If children do not eat in class they will not be able to concentrate because they would be hungry. I also think that they should not have unhealthy snacks because they should eat healthy foods such as fruit, crackers and popcorn if it is not too salty. They should also have healthy drinks such as water and juice. If the children do not have any of this food they might not be allowed snack. Furthermore the children shou ld put their rubbish in the bin because there is a lot of litter going around schools and making the schools dirty. In conclusion if children eat healthy foods , drink good drinks and put their rubbish in the bin I think they should still have a snack. Celine Clayton I am writing because I think that snack at break time is good it helps us concentrate in school. Although not everyone would agree I believe that snack is good to help our energy levels. I agree that salty crisps and sugary sweets do make us hyper and salt is bad if you have too much but on the other hand healthy snacks are good for you such as fruit. The most important point is the mess. Most people complain about the mess. So to solve that problem, eat in the classroom before going out to play and tidy up your space. So I agree not to have sugary snacks or salty snacks, but we should be allowed healthy snacks such as fruit and crackers So I will be extremely cross if snacks at break time should be banned and I will send another complaint. Lara Bates - Prior Some people maybe agree with me or maybe not, but I don't think snacks are all bad but there are some reasons that snacks are bad . Such as, it is sometimes bad for you 're teeth and sometimes makes a mess. Some people bring in candy and that has too much sugar. Salt, people bring in crisps, which cause so much litter with the leftovers. Vermin and bugs are a really big problem You shouldn't share your snack, even though people plead with you and really want to trade with you . You get hyper with too much sugar. You cannot concentrate with loads of sugar and salt in class. It could cause an argument. Maxwell Fuller Although not everyone would agree, I believe that snack should not be eaten at break because it is bad for your teeth and makes a mess. You might say that it is brain food but that does not mean you should not be eating big packets or chips Mars Bars. If you eat that you will not eat any of your lunch. Furthermore you should not be trading snacks. Also it brings rats , cockroaches and in your class you will not learn anything because the sugar makes you go crazy for the teachers . The cleaners have to clean up your mess. In conclusion if there is snack children should eat fruit (for snack) but I cannot agree on a snack at break. Joshua Newton Although not everyone would agree I think that there should be snacks during break time. Firstly we need energy to concentrate in class and to maintain our normal energy levels. If you don't eat snack you may get hungry. We also have to have Brain Food to help us concentrate. Furthermore instead of having unhealthy snacks you could tell them to have healthy snacks like Fruit, crackers or even Popcorn. Children need a little salt because if you are sweating the salt will make your body sweat more until it does not need to . The healthy food or drinks will give us the vitamins we need and it may set an example for the smaller children. Therefore I think children should have snacks and I think you should let them have snack during Break time Nicholas Au Although not everyone would agree, I believe snacks at break is essential to a child 's day, to help keep up his/her concentra tion . Snacks are also good to maintain a suitable energy level , but of course junk food is not acceptable for a snack. Here is a list of healthy snacks, fruit, crackers and popcorn. This will help maintain a healthy day by keeping up vitamin levels and a healthy diet. A snack is also a great source of brain food to boost the students learning skills. However children should only have a small snack so as not to prevent them from missing lunch. In conclusion I think a snack should be a daily routine at break time. Clemens Shaw Although some people would not agree, I believe that snacks would be good because snacks can sometimes give you more energy. I know that it is bad to eat unhealthy food but I recommend that children should eat healthy food for example and other healthy fruit. Some may think playtime is more important than snack and I do agree with that, but our children are not concentrating . Children might get headaches if they are not eating any food. Children should eat snacks at break time because they can get vitamins, nourishment and energy if they only eat healthy food. I agree if there are still children that eat unhealthy food , snacks will be banned . James Huang Although not everyone would agree that snacks are good for you, most people do agree that children should only eat healthy snacks. People need snacks so that they can get energy and minerals. Most children eat junk food that is not good for you because it makes them fat and clogs up their veins and arteries. People who eat snacks that are sugary and salty make their teeth bad . Too much salt is bad. You need snacks to keep you concentrating and healthy, but too many sacks will make you sick. Eating brain food for children is the best thing . Peope should eat foods like apples, crackers, bananas and popcorn but make sure there is not a lot of salt and butter on it. Some children who don't eat snacks don't concentrate in class because they are very hungry. People who eat snacks should be very careful with their litter because if they drop it on to the floor they could attract bugs. People who eat lots of junk food like cookies , chips and sugary juices do not eat their lunches and get into trouble with their teachers. Guy Moore Although not everyone would agree I believe that snacks should be banned . My children have become a little over weight and they are very unfit .I have several reasons to support my view. Firstly the most important point is that some snacks are bad for your teeth . Also what most of our children eat has a lot of fat, sugar and salt, which will cause them to have serious health problems. Furthermore, it will cause vermin and bugs to come when you drop crumbs on the floor. You are littering the environ ment also you are making more work for the cleaner ladies with so much mess. In conclusion , I think that after all that I have explained I would like to have snacks banned throughout the school. Rebecca Slevin I believe that snacks at break time should not be banned . I think they are good for the children 's health. Firstly some people say that the snacks th~t children eat have too much sugar and salt. But 1f the children were only allowed to bring healthy snacks like fruit, crackers and popcorn, then I think that would maybe change their opinion. Too much litter is also an issue but if the children ate their snacks inside then the vermin and bugs would not go on the roof. Furthermore the children need energy and nourishment. If you take away the snacks they will be too hungry to concentrate in class, they need BRAIN FOOD. The children need to maintain their energy levels and keep healthy and full of nourishment. They say that the children 's snacks will make them hyper with sugar but if they do not have any snack then they will have no energy at all. In conclusion banning snacks at break time would be a very bad idea indeed. The children need snacks so they will not be hungry in class so they will concentrate. Therefore you should not ban snacks. Imagen Rough Most people would think that snacks at break are good but I think that it is bad to have snacks at break and I have evidence to support that. Firstly if you eat too much sugary snacks it can do some damage to your teeth but it is good to have energy in class time but most of the children have junk food . To add to all of this some children have a lot of snacks, as a result they do not eat their lunch and that causes an argument with their parents or lunch lady. Furthermore it would be good if the children had healthy snacks like fruit, crackers and popcorn. It is ok to have the occasional junk food , but more or less good food for snacks. All in all I think a snack should be allowed if it is a healthy snack. Alexander Bradbury I think there should be snacks, because if we do not have a snack we cannot do our work well when we get back to class. Although not everyone would agree that there should be snacks at snack time I think we should because we need energy. Firstly I think we should eat healthy food at snack time. The most important point is we should have brain food . Furthermore we need a bal anced diet. In addition we should have a bit of salt and sugar in snack, the salt is for if we sweat and the sugar for energy. I think we should have snack because of all the reasons above. Therefore I think it is a good thing to have snack. Wester Beune Although not everyone would agree I think snack at break time is appropriate because it gives the children energy. Also if the children are hungry they do not concentrate as well as when they are not hungry. Children should have a balanced diet like some crisps and an apple or cranberries and some biscuits . They also contain vitamins that are essential for everyday life. Furthermore it helps maintain strength and energy for the day. Furthermore the children need the energy for break time which allows them to play in the limited amount of time for playing. Next the children like something to eat in spare time. Snack also contains a bit of salt which is good when it replaces the sweat which is good for it cools them down the on a hot day. Sweating makes sure that humans do not get over heated , which is bad for your health. Oscar Copley Although not everyone would agree, I believe that snacks should be allowed. I think they should have fruit, Popcorn and biscuits and maybe every now and then, crisps. The children should have snacks at break, because it provides them with energy, ready for the next lesson. Most children that do not have snack become hungry and there is lack of concentration . Some would say it will make them hyper to have snacks, but if they ate one of the aforementioned foods that will not happen. There are also some disagreements about drinks into school , which does make them slightly hyper, while more sensible children drink from school water-fountains or fruit juice. In conclusion , there are also some complaints about rubbish, but the teachers on duty should remind them to put the litter in the provided bins.
