Mr Will Hughes Caley (left) and I (third from left) went to New Zealand to work with the outdoor education company Little Brown Kiwi to prepare a two week residential trip for Kellett's first Year 13 class. As part of the planning, we were looking for a suitable Exploration for the four Year 13 students who were undertaking the Gold Hong Kong Award for Young People. We walked the Kepler Track to see if it was going to be suitable for the Exploration. The walk was beautiful and the weather ‘varied’. We decided it was not a suitable trail for the Exploration. Instead the four students completed their Gold Exploration on a large sheep station (Nokomai Sheep Station) in the center of the South Island with the purpose of exploring the lives of the Chinese migrants who worked in the original gold mines in central New Zealand.
