This is an original Havell engraving of JJA's "Black Warrior," No. 18, Plate 86. It shows two birds sitting on bare limbs, one above the other. The bird at the top of the print is a male and he is perched with his back towards the viewer and looking to the right. He is black with the tail being dark grey with black lined running across. The female is perched on the lower branch in a position of attack. Its wings are up and appear to be ready to fully extend for flight. This bird is slightly lighter in color than the male and the underside of the wings are shown to be a light grey. At the bottom of the print is printed: Black Warrior, Male 1, F. 2/Falco Harlani.Artwork Details
