This is a plaster bust of an elderly John James Audubon. The bust is from the chest up and shows a bare chest and Audubon without a beard or any facial hair. He has mutton chops and hair neatly combed. Audubon is shown toothless and with a receding hairline. Bust sits on an attached pedestal. Beneath the base is the number 4113. This sculpture is very similar to Mathew Brady's photograph of Audubon taken about 1848. This bust may have done post-mortem based on Brady's photo.
