Description

This is a small card depicting the Banqueting Hall at Whitehall, with a procession and other groups of individuals in the foreground. The card states that the image depicts the surrounding buildings as they were before the fire. The information printed on the back side indicates this is the ninth card in a series of "Memorable Spots in English History." The text briefly describes the history of the site as a place of royal residence and the site of the execution of Charles I. The card was printed by The Religious Tract Society, located at 56, Paternoster Row, and 164, Piccadilly, as indicated by the text printed at the bottom.
