This is a handwritten letter from Hattie B. Audubon to George Grinnell. The letter is written on both sides of a single sheet of paper. The transcription is as follows:
"1904 Second St.
Louisville , Kentucky
August 2nd. 1932
Dear George,
Thank you for your letter of July 22nd. I have not received you speak of, but it is just as well, for my failing sight prevents me from reading, and my defecting hearing keeps me from taking pleasure in being read to. But I thank you for thinking of sending it to me. Things go on about the same with me, in the summer I do not have so many visits from friends, but one faithful friend comes to me twice a week and stays for about two hours with me each time. She is the daughter of the dear friend I lost a year ago last June, and she does as much as possible to fill her mother's place. I am very glad to hear from you every now and then.
Yours affectionately,
Hattie B. Audubon"Collection
