Description
This is a handwritten letter from Donald Mitchell to Delia Tyler. Transcription is as follows:
"Dear Mrs. Tyler,
My experience with Osage Orange has not been very happy, it makes a beautiful hedge but I found it liable to winter off in spots & on one or two _________ large patches were killed by the field mice (they being a ______ fond of its bark). I should think the California priest might ______ you ________ if you wish a deciduous plant - if evergreen, I find our native hemlock very effective.
Yours very truly,
Don G. Mitchell

P.S. I hope you will induce the Woodbridge Smart man to spare some of the picturesque hedge - rows with which the town roads used to be delightfully equipped
