Envelope addressed: " Mrs. George S. Clifford, 716 upper First St., Evansville, Indiana."
"My dear Mrs. Clifford, You do not know how much I appreciate the extreme kindness of your letter, Betty Torian's second letter, too, was so affectionate and urgent that I cannot resist so much kindness, and unless the news from my family, is worse, I shall hope to have the pleasure of meeting you next week. I should very much enjoy the expedition to Henderson on Friday afternoon; I did not realize that Evansville was so near it. Please thank Mr. Clifford for his kind message. I certainly hope the meeting will be a successful one for I not only am much pleased to hear of all talk and interest in my Grandfather's life work, but i love the birds, though I have never succeeded in studying them or even recognizing their individual songs. They sing beautifully here in the early mornings, for we are at a corner of one of the city parks, and they fly across to our trees. Looking forward to the pleasure of meeting you next week, I am, yours cordially, Harriet B. Audubon"Collection
