This is a plaster life mask of John James Audubon's face. Audubon sat for his life mask at Robert Havell's studio in 1830. It is unclear if this is the original life mask or a copy made from the original that was casted and molded by Robert Baird. The same life mask can be found in the collections of the New-York Historical Society and Princeton University archives. According to the original PastPerfect record, Audubon had given the mask to Robert Havell. Audubon would have been 45-years-old when the mask was made.
