This is a carte-de-visite of an elderly Lucy Bakewell Audubon seated wearing a black dress and white cap. She is seated in a chair against a swag curtain backdrop. She is faced toward the viewer with body slightly titled to left and right arm against her body with hand in lap. Left elbow is bent with hand positioned inward. Swag curtain tassels to her left. Hand-written on the back is, "Widow of / J J Audubon.'" The stamp of the photographer is also on the back. The stamp reads, "Bogardus / Photographer 363 Broadway / New York."Artwork Details
