Description

This is a crystal sulfide paperweight (part a) featuring the likeness of John James Audubon. The paperweight is a multi-faceted etched glass object with robin egg blue coloration. The cameo is based on the sculpture by G. Poillerat. Maker's sticker adhered to the bottom. The original box (b) with the certificate of authenticity accompany the paperweight. Printing on the certificate reads, "This is to certify that the paperweight of / John James AUDUBON / made from a sculpture by Gilbert POILLERAT / and produced by the Cristalleries d'ALBERT, France / is limited to 1000 copies and 225 overlays / The mold will be destroyed after completion of this edition." There is a note on a piece of cardboard in the case that reads, "Purchased - March 1979." A wood stand of possibly mahogany accompanies the paperweight, too. It is made of dark colored wood and is circular with a turned based and round opening for the paperweight. It is part c.
