This is a chromolithograph printed by Julius Bien after the engraving by Robert Havell, Jr., after original artwork by John James Audubon for his Birds of America. This chromolithograph is a full double sheet with two bird images printed on it: the Pine Creeping Warbler (at the viewer's left) and the Solitary Flycatcher or Vireo (at the viewer's right). The image of the Pine Creeping Warbler, No. 15-7 Plate 82, features a male and female pair perched on the branch of a yellow pine that cuts diagonally across the composition. The bodies of both birds are angled down to the viewer's left, with the female positioned above the male as she clings to a pinecone. The legend below the center of this image reads: "Pine Creeping Warbler, / SYLVIA PINUS. Lath Male, 1. Female, 2. Yellow Pine." The second image, No. 15-8 Plate 239, features a male and female pair of solitary flycatchers clinging to the thin branches of American cane. The male is placed above the female in the composition, and the bodies of both birds are angled slightly downward and to the viewer's right. The legend below the center of the image reads: "Solitary Flycatcher or Vireo, / VIREO SOLITARIUS. Vieill, / Male, 1. Female, 2. / American Cane. Miegia macrosperma." Both images have a faint, irregularly-shaped background. The artist's credit at the bottom corner of the chromolithograph, at the viewer's left, reads: "["Drawn from" missing] Nature by J. J. Audubon, F.R.S. F.L.S." The printer's credit at the opposite corner reads: "Chromolithy. by J. Bien, New York. 1860."Collection
