This colored engraving was done by John Prideaux Selby for his Illustrations of British Orinthology (1821-1841). The engraving details two male and female Widgeons perched upon coastline soil. The male's tan forehead and lighter coat help to distinguish it from its darker-coated female counterpart at the bottom of the image. The bottom-right corner bears an inscription reading: "1 Widgeon M / 2 Widgeon F." In the top-right corner is an inscription that reads: "PLATE LII".
