This colored engraving was done by Prideaux John Selby for his publication, "Illustrations of British Ornithology", published in Edinburgh between 1821 and 1833. The engraving details two male and female King Eiders resting at the edge of the ocean. The more colorful male can be seen on the left side while the browner female occupies the right side. The bottom bears an inscription reading: "KING EIDER / Male & Female." The upper-right reads: "PLATE LXXI."
