Description

This is a framed photographic print of an original oil painting on canvas of Ann Bakewell, the sister of Lucy Bakewell Audubon. The image is framed in a narrow, black wooden frame with silver trim. The subject is wearing a dark dress and a large bonnet, and she is looking to her right. Twisted wire attached to two eye screws on the back serves as the hanger. The original PastPerfect record attributes the original oil painting to John Woodhouse Audubon; however, the note on the back attributes the painting to John James Audubon. The inscription on the back reads: "Anne Bakewell born 1795 at Crick, Derby-shire, England (daughter of William & Lucy Green Bakewell) married William Alexander Gordon in 1823. / From a painting by John James Audubon."
