This is a receipt from Audubon & Bakewell. Transcription is as follows: "Paid 10th Jany. 1818 - $2134.- Shawaneetown 10th. Jany 1817 Twelve Months after date I promise to pay to Audubon & Bakewell on order Twenty one hundred thirty four Dollars, without defalcation value received. Witness: Ralph Hall (signature torn away)." Opposite side reads, "Recd. on acct of the within One Thousand Dollars - Shwaneytown J. Dec. 9th. 1817, John J. Audubon."
