This print is a New York Historical Society Oppenheimer Edition that is a facsimile of John James Audubon's "American White Pelican" painting which was used to create the print in The Birds of America. In this print, a large Roseate Spoonbill is bending down to get a drink of water. Part of the background is only sketched in to be added later. The rest of the background is the bird standing on the rock with tall grass behind it and partially blue sky.
