This is a restrike print of plate 308 of the series, The Birds of America, titled "Tell-tale Godwit or Snipe." The print is a modern restrike made from Robert Havell's original copper engraving plate. It is a non-colored, black and white image. The image shows two birds, a male and a female. One bird is upright with its left wing out. The other is crouched, leaning toward water. The birds are pictured in a marsh-like setting with water, tall grass and trees in the background. The top left of the print bears the inscription, "No. 62." and the top right bears the inscription, "PLATE CCCVIII." Beneath is the inscription, "Tell-tale Godwit or Snipe, / Totanus Melanoleucus, Vieill. / Male, 1. F. 2. View in East Florida." On the bottom left of the engraving are the words "Drawn from Nature by J. J. Audubon, F.R.S. F.L.S." and on the bottom right are the words "Engraved, Printed & Coloured by R. Havell, 1836." The paper is embossed on the lower left corner with the John James Audubon State Park seal and numbered 1/250 to the right of the seal.
