This is a Native American tobacco pouch. The pouch is made of deer skin and features a heavily beaded body, long fringe (15.25 inches at its longest strand) along the bottom, similar fringe extending from the top opening, and four deer skin flaps at the top with beading as well. The beaded area on the body measures 5.5 inches at its widest point and 4.5 at its height. Beads are placed in an alternating stripe pattern of solid rectangles. Colors used are white, dark green, yellow, robin's egg blue, royal blue, and burgundy. A pattern using white, yellow, and dark green beads is decorated in a single strip along one side, front and back, of the pouch. The four decorative flaps extending from the top are decorated in a stripe and X-pattern with robin's egg blue, white, black, yellow, and burgundy beads. Some of the long fringe at the bottom appears to have been dyed red. There is a broken strand of beaded connecting the fringe approximately 1.25 inches from the pouch body. Two plain ties extend from the pouch top.Collection
