This is an original J.T. Bowen lithograph of John James Audubon's, "Townsend's Rocky Mountain Hare." There are two adult hares with the one in the foreground crouched down and facing to the left while the hares in the background is sitting up and looking back to the left. The background has some plants on the right and rolling hills in the distance on the left side. This print was done for the "Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America." There is no title, plate number or any other of the usual printed information normally found on the prints leading us to believe that this is a proof and not an original print from the books. The original print would be found in volume one as number 1, plate III.Artwork Details
