Description

This is a hand-colored working proof of John James Audubon's plate 79, Tyrant Flycatcher (Eastern Kingbird) by Robert Havell, Jr. on J. Whatman paper. The print has been cut-down to an irregular shape with two creases running horizontally through the center-the "J. Whatman" watermark was trimmed away from the paper. The print is mounted floating in a glided frame. Shown in the image are two birds: a male and a female. They are perched on a tree branch. One bird has a bee grasped in its beak.
