Description

This print titled "White-headed Eagle" is reproduced from the original Robert Havell engraving in the Audubon Museum's collection. The print is one of four hawk images produced for resale in Audubon State Park's museum store. The eagle is true to life size but the paper is slightly smaller than the Whatman paper used by Havell. The image shows an immature eagle perched on a bare tree limb with head turned and beak open. Marginalia reads, "No. 26 / PLATE CXXVI / Drawn from Nature by J. J. Audubon F.R.S. F.L.S. / From Originals in John James Audubon Museum, Henderson, KY. / White-headed Eagle / FALCO LEUCOCEPHALUS Linn / Young / Engraved, Printed & Colored by R. Havell, London."
