The image shows three hares, facing to the left, and sitting in profile on a grassy hill. There are open fields and very few trees in the background. Credits and Marginalia below the image read, "On Stone by W. E. Hitchcock / Worm-wood Hare / Drawn from Nature by J. J. Audubon, F.R.S. F.L.S / Lithd Printed and Col.d by J. T. Bowen, Philad."
