Postcard depicting a view down Greene Street. Notation on verso, 'The John Dewey House on Greene Street. Adjacent to the Audubon House is the recently restored cottage where the late John Dewey, well known educator of Columbia University, spent many of his declining years. Note the old Key West dormer windows and patio. Next to the cottage is the Telegraph building where Richard Harding Davis sent his wires during the Spanish American War. A beautiful flame tree is between the buildings and further down the street are other restored Greene Street buildings and Sloppy Joe's, where Ernest Hemingway often visited with his fishing friends.'Subject Place
