A mounted Momsen Lung formerly belonging to a crew member of the US Navy's Submarine Squadron Twelve that was once stationed in Key West.  The rebreather is mounted to heavy wood and has two brass plaques.  The first reads, 'Presented by Captain W.A. McGuinness Commander Submarine Squadron Twelve'.  The lower plaque reads, 'Momsen Lung First Submarine Escape Device'.
The Momsen Lung was a submarine escape device invented in the early 1930s by Charles Momsen, following several submarine disasters that underscored the urgent need for reliable escape technology.Collection
