Oil on canvas painting by Erik Johan Smith depicting Ernest Hemingway (bottom right) alongside several of his Key West friends at Sloppy Joe's Bar. Others who have been identified in the painting are George Brooks (Key West lawyer and politician), Skinner (bartender at Sloppy Joe's), 'Sloppy' Joe Russell, 'Big Louise' (Key West policeman), Julius Stone (FERA Administrator), Clarence Higgs ('Hawk' Commissioner), Captain Aaron Sharpley (bar pilot), 'Calamity' (Western Union Telegraph operator), 'Chips' Olof Soderberg (Ship's carpenter of salvage vessels WARBLE and WILLET) and 'Greasy' Edmund Rabonje (Bootlegger).
