Notation on verso, 'The U.S. Barracks are located in the eastern quarter of the city, on the shore line. The Guard House was the first building erected in 1832. The Headquarters were built the same year, and the other structures have been put up since; they are of wood with concrete and brick foundations, costing about $250,000.'
