Black and white photograph of the U.S. Navy Coal Depot and Storehouse also known as Building #1, located at the intersection of Front and Whitehead Streets. It was built during 1856-1861 to serve as a naval supplies depot. It later served as a Naval Administration Building until 1923. From 1932-1939 it served as headquarters for the 7th Lighthouse District of the U.S. Lighthouse Service. The U.S. Coast Guard took over the service and the building in 1939.Collection
