Postcard depicting a Confederate flag flying above a bed of roses spelling out ‘City of Roses’. The caption reads, ‘Welcome to Confederate Reunion, Little Rock, Arkansas, May 16, 17, 18, 1911.’ Notation on verso reads, ‘I send you this from the land of roses, where the weary head at night reposes, in sweet content and peace. Here the dawn breaks bright o’er vine clad hills, and the sunbeams dance on rippling rills, and fields of snowy fleece. New life is borne on the balmy breeze, that kissed the sweet magnolia trees, and life’s a golden dream. Here the salutations “Glad to meet you, ___”. Welcome hands reach out to greet you, And the folks are ____.’ O. P. FindleyCollection
