This jacket is part of a uniform set formerly belonging to Ernest Hemingway and was worn during his service as a Red Cross ambulance driver on the Italian Front during World War I.
Long-sleeved khaki wool jacket with a high stand-up collar. The collar has four holes on the left side and one on the right. The shoulders are padded and feature epaulets secured with a single button. The sleeves are long and wide, with no cuffs. The body is tailored with darts to create a fitted waist. The front closes with four buttons and five corresponding buttonholes, indicating one button is missing. 'EM Hemingway' is handwritten in ink at the back neckline.
