The message on the verso reads, ‘Friend Carrie, I received your card. I would like very much to come over but I am afraid I will not be able to as Mother is very poorly and I am afraid to leave her long at a time. The Doctor says she will not be here long as the heart is giving out. You come over here. With Love, Hattie.’ The card is addressed to Mrs. John W.
