Handwritten folded letter on Casa Marina Hotel stationery. Letter was written by James Buckley to his father during the former's time working at Casa Marina during the winter of 1928-1929. Letter reads, 'Dear Pop: I'm still eating the Hotel out of house and home and gaining weight faster than you can imagine. Since I've been here I've gained eleven pounds. I now weigh 136. I've been in swimming too every day and have got a fine sun-burn. It don't hurt though. You don't feel it down here. The weather is still wonderful and continues to remain hot. Am still working hard but also am having a fine time. I wish you were here. It's a great place. How is Russie. I hope he feels better. Too bad, my pop, you had to work all that extra time. Try and keep well yourself as there's even a lot of "flu" down here. I've written to Uncle John and Uncle Rich and will write to Uncle Jim & Gandy when I get a chance. Received a fine letter from Uncle Jim. Everyday I have a little talk with the baker. He's a German and a fine man. He always asks me, "Vell Chimmie, How many rolls you eat joost now? When I say "Oh, baker, only about 6 or 7, he says "Mein E-olt. Vot an appetite dot boy has got. He says if it wasn't for me, he wouldn't have no job down here (you're glad to hear that I know my Pop). Well I'll close now hoping to hear from you real soon, and I'll write again myself. Goodbye my Popski. Loads of love and kisses from your Jimo."Collection
