Black and white photograph of the Fleet Sonar School located at Naval Station Key West. It was established in 1940 to train radar operators for the ships searching and destroying German U-boats in the Caribbean and elsewhere. Following the war, it functioned as an important training center for American and foreign naval radar operators until the early 1970s.
