From the U.S.S. Key West (PF-17) in World War II; buying wares from Portuguese in Azores. Writing on back of photo - "DE 48 in background. We took merchant seaman into Azores and dropped him off after our doctor operated. There was a German ship across pier from us. The natives bought harmonicas from the Germans rowed around end of pier and sold them to us."
